interests in health and wellness. More specifically, the field of Massage Therapy, where the complications of naturally occurring events in the body or after-effects of injuries can be isolated and rehabilitated. I graduated, with honors, from the Registered Massage Therapy program at Everest College, and have been pursuing this career for almost five years.
I grew up in Newmarket and spent a short stint in Toronto, working at Simple Cures, a Chinese Medicine and Naturopathic clinic. I then decided to move my small family back to Newmarket and focus on refining my skills in Massage Therapy. Over two years I steadily grew my loyal client base at the much respected Newmarket Massage Therapy Clinic, before pursuing a lifelong dream of establishing my own business, with a goal of being an important part of our community and destination for those in need of restorative attention. I’ve treated clients of all ages, including children, with a constant aim to focus on the specific areas or concerns you’re dealing with. I want you to leave feeling as though you were listened to and your problems were addressed. Your health is my purpose.

Shelby Avann Usui Reiki Master
Shelby is a Usui Reiki Master. Her Reiki journey began when a friend requested she be a practice candidate for her. Immediately, she felt a
connection to something she didn’t understand and was intrigued to learn more. In pursuing this modality, she has opened herself as a channel for healing others through her unique form of energy work. In 2018 Shelby achieved her reiki master.
Shelby believes that Reiki is a great complimentary therapy for those that are open to trying something different. This therapy assists in becoming more aware of oneself and to heal. In particular, it is wonderful for people who are in very stressful or emotional states, whether it is due to family stresses, work or sickness. Shelby wants to help others become more aware of their emotional, spiritual, physical issues and help them to begin the self healing process. Outside of Reiki, Shelby loves horses and traveling around the world. She also loves to stay active through dance, volleyball and nature walks.
Katie LipmanRegistered Massage Therapist
Katie has been a Registered Massage Therapist since October 2008. She completed her Massage Therapy Diploma program at the Canadian
College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Toronto and graduated with honors.
Katie provides Massage Therapy, Life Coaching and Intuitive Healing sessions for clients that are in need of deep relaxation, pain relief, direction and clarity. Her personal philosophy is that as humans we have physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of self and in order to have an effect on one, we need to be aware of the other two.
With an understanding of human science and also a deep connection and respect for the spiritual self, Katie uses her knowledge of human anatomy and her own intuition and inner guidance in sensing what the body needs for healing to occur.
Katie’s approach when it comes to Massage Therapy is to first and foremost assist the client to experience deep relaxation and reconnection to self. She facilitates this experience by grounding herself fully in the moment and placing her awareness and intention wholeheartedly on the client and their needs. From this space Katie provides a massage to renew the spirit, relieve stress and tension and encourage the body and mind to rest. Using a combination of Swedish massage, deep tissue massage and trigger point release Katie has great results relieving muscular pain, headaches, migraines and anxiety. Katie’s treatments can include essential oils, deep relaxation techniques and Reiki. She also loves to end each session with a head, scalp and face massage to further enhance her clients feeling of restoration.
In her spare time, Katie is a Mom, a musician and singer and loves to be out in nature or traveling to experience new places. She looks forward to meeting you and being a part of your journey to optimal well-being!
MASSAGE THERAPY BENEFITS
The health benefits of Massage Therapy extend beyond simply soothing aches and pains. Massage Therapy Can Relieve Stress. Stress is a prevalent component in today’s fast-paced world which can negatively impact on an individual’s health and well-being. Massage therapy has been shown to be a means by which stress can be reduced significantly on physical and psychological levels.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle.
Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury.
People often feel sore for one to two days after deep tissue massage.
Relaxation massage is a gentle Swedish massage that uses smooth, gliding strokes to help you relax. The massage therapist will move at a slower pace and use lighter pressure.
There is less emphasis on working out serious adhesions or “knots” in the muscle tissue, which can be uncomfortable and cause some people to tense up against the pressure.
Also called prenatal massage, pregnancy massage is becoming increasingly popular with expectant mothers. Massage therapists who are certified in pregnancy massage know the proper way to position and support the woman’s body during the massage, and how to modify techniques.
Pregnancy massage is used to reduce stress, decrease swelling, relieve aches and pains, and reduce anxiety and depression. The massage is customized to a woman’s individual needs.
